Since the release of stray last July 19, the most adorable cat in the video game industry continues to be talked about. It is true that being able to embody a red feline in a video game, it makes you want to. But Stray is much more than that, it is also more than endearing robotic characters, a moving story and graphics that will immerse you in a perfectly realized futuristic environment.
Players love it, and the numbers prove it. Stray is currently BlueTwelve Studio and Annapurna Interactive’s top launch, a record far ahead of the developer’s other products. In top form, the game recorded 98% positive reviews on Steam, thus passing in front of God of War and the addictive Powerwash Simulator. But while the game seems to appeal, its feline protagonist leaves some players perplexed, who prefer to replace it with other four-legged creatures, such as their own cat, or even other figures of pop culture.
Garfield
Although he is akin to the protagonist of Stray thanks to its beautiful red fur, Garfield is quite different. The hero of Jim Davis’s comics arrives in this post-apocalyptic world which totally clashes with his usual comfort. Say goodbye to TV and lasagnaGarfield will have to perform stunts worthy of a real feline to get back to the surface world.

spyro
Total change in appearance, now let’s move on to a mod allowing you to transform Stray’s cat into one of the most famous dragons in video games! Clearly braver than Garfield, Spyro will unfortunately not be able to fly with his wings (this is only a mod modifying the texture of the protagonist), but he will be able to perform the somersaults present in the game.
This mod transforms all the cats in the game into Spyro and other dragons of the same type, and thus, the first scene of the game becomes very coherent… and adorable! Spyro mod is available just here.
Mary of the Aristocats
For a more delicate adventure, we strongly recommend this mod allowing to embody Mary of the Aristocats. Its creator, huckpie, said: “Everyone wants to be a cat, and I thought I should incorporate Mary of the Aristocats into this game, because it reminded me of my parents’ trip to Tokyo Disneyland a few years ago. Apparently, she’s very appreciated in Japan because of its association with all things kawaii”.
