This science fiction series rated 4.2 out of 5 by AlloCiné internet users has been renewed by AppleTV+ for a fifth season.

It’s not the series that we talk about the most, but there is no doubt that For All Mankind has nevertheless managed to find its audience! The proof, since the science fiction series produced by AppleTV+ displays an average viewer rating of 4.2 out of 5 on AlloCiné, and is among the highest rated sci-fi productions of all time on our site!

A fascinating uchrony

Broadcast since fall 2019, For All Mankind is an uchronistic series, imagining a world where the first man to land on the Moon would be Russian, and not American. This simple fact would have changed the course of History, including – according to the plot of the program – an extension of the Cold War and the creation of a space army.

Highly appreciated for its realistic approach, For All Mankind was co-created by American screenwriter Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica). The idea for the program came to the latter during a lunch organized by NASA, and a simple discussion with former astronaut Garrett Reisman.

A spin-off will soon be released!

Four seasons have since been released, and a fifth has been officially ordered by AppleTV+. It should be noted that this season 5 is not described as the final season, and the platform also has major plans for its series, which it now wishes to develop into a franchise.

Thus, a spin-off centered on the Russian point of view has also just been announced by Apple. The series, which will be called Star City, will be supervised by the three creators of For All Mankind. The program will retrace the history of the landing of Russian cosmonauts on the moon, then the development of a Soviet space force.

A first synopsis describes this brand new series as follows: “Star City brings us back to the history-changing moment in the space race, when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the Moon.

But this time, we’ll tell the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, engineers and spies employed by the Soviet space program, and the risks they took to make advance the course of humanity.”

The first four seasons of All For Mankind can be found now exclusively on AppleTV+.
