Striker shoots Bayern out of crisis
Leader Kane grabs Lewandowski’s record

Harry Kane, who else? FC Bayern’s super striker shines against Stuttgart and shoots Munich out of their mini-crisis. After his two goals, Kane sees his team’s “best performance of the season” – and also equalizes a record set by Robert Lewandowski.

Bayern, once again led by double packer Harry Kane, were able to enjoy the Christmas lights show after their top game statement after the last home game of the year. Thanks to the Englishman’s goals 19 and 20 this season (in 14 games!), the decimated German series champions did not let table leaders Bayer Leverkusen escape. The Munich team dominated the high-flying VfB Stuttgart 3-0 (1-0) in the Bundesliga on Sunday evening in the Allianz Arena, even without the sick national players Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka – from the first to the last minute of the game.

This was mainly due to superstar striker Kane, the top scorer in the Bundesliga (20 goals and five assists). “It was probably our best performance of the season,” he said on DAZN: “We really had good intensity. We showed how dominant we can be in a big game.” The Englishman was once again the match winner. After the mini lull of three competitive games without a goal of his own, the 30-year-old scored two goals or more in the league in the 2nd and 55th minutes for the sixth time.

Kane is only the third player in Bundesliga history to score 20 goals by the winter break or earlier. Lewandowski also only needed 14 games to achieve this record in his record 20/21 season. Gerd Müller wasn’t any faster either.

Kane ensures Bayern’s home game record

Bayern have now netted at least once in their 64th Bundesliga home game in a row, equaling their record from 1970 to 1974. “It’s nice when I can help the team with my goals,” said Kane happily after the win. Bayern patron Uli Hoeneß, who is likely to enjoy the German record transfer more from weekend to weekend, also cheered and rejoiced in the stands at the Allianz Arena.

The Munich team were desperate to recover from last week’s shocking 5-1 defeat against Frankfurt and Kane needed just two minutes to make the first statement and complete the dream start. After Atakan Karazor lost the ball, Thomas Müller substituted the starting Leroy Sané. The national player danced past Alexander Nübel, who was on loan from FC Bayern to VfB and was running out of his goal, and then served his number 9. The Englishman was able to easily push the ball in.

Once again it was Kane’s goals that gave the rebuilt Bayern team security. In the 55th minute he doubled the lead by heading in unchallenged from a cross from youngster Aleksandar Pavlovic.
