End of orange vigilance in Haute-Corse. Météo-France lifted Monday, February 7, at the end of the morning, the orange alert for strong winds which had started at 5 a.m., an episode marked by gusts approaching 200 km / h in Cap Corse, without making any noticeable damage.
“The westerly wind remains strong in Balagne and Cap Corse, but the values have eased, especially in Bastia where they are now well below 100 km/h, no longer requiring orange vigilance”, indicates Météo-France in its 11 o’clock bulletin.
During this episode of “violent gusts of sudden and short duration, but capable of causing significant damage”, “152 km/h on Île-Rousse, 197 km/h at Cagnano, a particularly exposed site on Cape Corsica and 125 km / h in Calacuccia (Corsica Center)”, were observed as well as “gusts between 100 and 120 km / h” on Bastia, detailed the meteorological organization.
The firefighters of Haute-Corse, for their part, reported “about twenty interventions mainly for materials threatening to fall and mainly in Bastia”, without there being any injuries to deplore.
