Curvy women can’t wear belts – and especially no short tops? In an interview, Guido Maria Kretschmer puts an end to outdated styling myths.

We often hear others – and ourselves – say, “I can’t wear that!” Of course you can, Guido Maria Kretschmer replies with pleasure. Because in the course of the last few years some fashion no-gos have crept in, the existence of which is completely unjustified. This is especially true for curvy women, who often have the impression that the current trends are not made for them. Hardly surprising, as long as we only see unrealistic ideals of beauty on the catwalks and advertisements …

Fortunately, there are designers like Guido Maria Kretschmer: He knows that fashion is not only made for the catwalk, but above all for everyday life. And that people are beautiful in all their facets, regardless of whether they are narrow, curvy, tall or small. We felt this empowering mentality again in our conversation. In the interview, Guido simply uncovered a few fashion myths that are really out of date.

So: stop the game of hide-and-seek, let’s finally start emphasizing our beautiful curves! How it works? Guido Maria Kretschmer reveals four trends that curvy women can very well wear.

5 trends curvy women shouldn’t be afraid of

Boxy tops

Boxy and curvy, does that go well together? But yes, advises Guido Maria Kretschmer: “I believe that curvy women shouldn’t be afraid of boxy parts. Especially when it gets boxy and a little longer, it always makes a good moment.” Boxy-cut knitwear, such as sweaters and cardigans, can also be combined well: “You can also stack them, asymmetrically, shorter at the front, longer at the back.”

Crop tops

Admittedly, most women over 18 and without a Britney Spears Six Pack shy away from super-short tops. Totally wrong, thinks Guido Maria Kretschmer. Who said that only a flat stomach can be shown? Curves are just as nice to look at. That is why the designer encourages: “And: do not be afraid of cropped parts! That is also a message!” He can only think of one limitation, namely if you have a large bust: “It’s just not possible if you have a lot of breasts. And for those who have a lot of breasts, there are coats that are nicely cut and have a nice neck. “

Great patterns

“The big Plus Girls are not made for those very little mugs that fly around like that,” says Guido Maria Kretschmer. But it can be graphic and gaudy when it comes to patterns, and you can very well wear them with curves: “They can be big, they can be bold, there are also beautiful different colors.” But small diamonds? “Better leave it out.”

High belt

“I think the phrase ‘no belts for plus-size women’ is no longer trendy at all!” Complains the designer during an interview. On the contrary, high belts can even look beautiful, especially when combined with sloping, flowing fabrics. His clear recommendation: “Wear the belt. Under large breasts, a belt can also be worn high, it doesn’t always have to be at the waist.”

Chunky shoes

Those who have big feet and no fine fairy shackles often don’t dare to wear striking footwear. “It is often said, yes, the tall women just can’t wear clunky shoes. Nonsense too!” Explains Guido Maria Kretschmer, “they can just as well wear these wonderful loafers with crepe soles. You just have to watch that they are on don’t wear so long trousers, they need the ankle even more than the slim ones. “

Thanks Guido!
