Successful run continues – Klagenfurt gives Pacult victory for his birthday

Austria Klagenfurt confirmed their recent successes against WSG Tirol on Saturday and gave coach Peter Pacult three points on his 64th birthday. Thanks to a goal from Florian Jaritz (45th + 2), the Carinthians celebrated a narrow 1-0 (1-0) home win in the 12th round of the Bundesliga. The fourth-placed Klagenfurt team thus underlined their claims to participation in the championship group for the third time in a row; the WSG remains second to last with five points.

Both teams were plagued by personnel problems in the run-up to the encounter. Peter Pacult once again only had 16 professionals available. The Klagenfurt coach changed the starting eleven in two positions. Nikola Djoric made his starting debut for Austria on the right in the back three, while Jaritz replaced Jonas Arweiler in the attack. WSG also had to complain about numerous absences, Osarenren Okungbowa and Sandi Ogrinec were new to the first eleven. WSG was initially the more active team in a tactically dominated initial phase, but was too prone to errors in the final third and completely missed creating compelling scoring opportunities. The recently successful Klagenfurters mostly limited themselves to defending and did not come into their own offensively for a long time. It took until the 38th minute before danger arose for the first time. WSG player Cem Üstündag was decisively disrupted by Thorsten Mahrer at the last moment (38th). With this action, the Klagenfurt team woke up. Initially, a goal from striker Sinan Karweina, who had previously been deregistered, did not count due to an offside position (40th). With the half-time whistle, the efficient Austria were able to celebrate their opening goal. A long-range shot landed at the feet of Jaritz, who fired in from close range (45th + 2). WSG efforts in the second half unsuccessfulShortly after the restart, the WSG promptly found a great chance to equalize. However, Nik Prelec headed a well-timed cross from Kofi Schulz over the goal (50′). On the other side, Karweina’s shot rolled just past the right (51′). As a result, the WSG acted more offensively, but still lacked the necessary precision. Only a shot from Matthäus Taferner (56th) into the side netting caused danger. It wasn’t until the final phase that things got tricky again. A goal from Schulz was disallowed due to a narrow offside position (84th). Klagenfurt limited itself largely to defending in a disjointed second half, and any counterattacks were not completed consistently enough. In the end it was still enough for the fifth win of the season.SK Austria Klagenfurt – WSG Tirol Final score 1:0 (1:0)Klagenfurt, 28 Black Arena3479 spectators, SR HameterGoal: 1:0 (45th + 2) JaritzKlagenfurt: Menzel – Djoric, Mahrer, Wimmer – Bonnah (92nd Straudi), Wernitznig, Benatelli, Gemicibasi, Schumacher – Karweina (80th Arweiler), JaritzWSG: Stejskal – Sulzbacher, Bacher, Okungbowa, Schulz – Taferner (87th Forest), Üstündag (75th Naschberger ), Ogrinec, Ertlthaler (74.
