Victim of harassment and homophobia, the young Lucas committed suicide at the age of 13 on Saturday January 7, 2023. Since then, the management of the college he attended has taken a radical decision concerning several students, such as the revealed Le Parisien.
A terrible tragedy took place on Saturday January 7, 2023 in France. That day, a young schoolboy baptized Lucas committed suicide, when he was only 13 years old. Having decided to assume his homosexuality in the eyes of all, this teenager, who attended the college of Golbey in the Vosges, was victim of school bullying and homophobia. A preliminary investigation for “harassment of a 15 year old minor” and “school harassment” was opened following his tragic death. The investigations carried out by the investigators will aim to reveal if a moral relentlessness actually led the young man to take his own life or not.
“The purpose of our investigation is to confirm the reality of the acts of harassment, their duration, as well as the exact content of the comments and behavior denounced. The investigations will endeavor to verify the causal link between these facts and the suicide.“, declared the public prosecutor of Epinal, Frédéric Nahon, during a press conference which was held on Friday January 13, 2023. “Be careful about the causal link“, he also added, before revealing that: “Lucas had left a note in his diary explaining his desire to end his life (…) but it does not refer to harassment“.
Suicide of Lucas: one of the potential stalkers received threats
In a long article devoted to this case, The Parisian revealed on Monday January 23, 2023 that the direction of the college that Lucas was attending took a drastic decision concerning some students in his class. Suspected of being at the origin of the harassment which would have led the teenager to suicide, the four middle school students concerned have been asked to stay at home for a week. According to a connoisseur of the file, this choice was made “for their safety“, because the latter “are waiting“within the college, as one parent pointed out. In addition, one of the students perceived to have harassed Lucas has already received threats. In addition to college, the local football club has also removed some of these same students from its team.
