Summer Game Fest 2023: the three announcements to remember

The beginning of summer is a period rich in announcements in the video game sector, since it was at this time of the year that E3 was held. The latter is no more, and as nature abhors a vacuum, the Californian show has been replaced by the Summer Game Fest, a series of conferences during which the biggest players present their great novelties. And this weekend has been particularly busy. So we learned a little more about the long-awaited DLC of Cyberpunk 2077much more about the galactic Starfieldand we were able to discover the first images of star wars outlaws.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

It has now been two and a half years since Cyberpunk 2077 came out and almost as much as players expect an expansion to the Adventures of V. Named Phantom Libertyit will be available on September 26, 2023 on PC, PS5 and Xbox X/S.

Without spoiling too much, the story will take place before the final mission of the game. In exchange for a remedy to get rid of her cumbersome implant, V. is given a high-risk mission: to find and escort Rosalynd Myers, the president of the NUSA (the New United States of America). His shuttle crashed on DogTown, a particularly dangerous district of Liberty City and led by Kurt Hansen, who therefore risks being the antagonist of the story. The most cinephiles among you will have thought of New York 1997.

Another nod to the big screen is the famous British actor Idriss Elba who plays one of the key characters in the story: Solomon Reed, a former federal agent. Of course, CD Projeckt Red promises hours of play and we are rather inclined to believe it, both the DLCs of The Witcher 3 from the same publisher were full of qualities.

Starfield

The big Xbox exclusive (and PC, therefore) was entitled to a 45 min conference. During it, we were able to learn more about the different aspects of a game that promises to be staggering. We knew that the Bethesda teams were able to create a coherent open world thanks to their experience on the different opuses of the saga. The Elder Scrolls (Morrowwind, oblivion, Skyrim…). But their ambition seems disproportionate since Starfield offers to explore the galaxy. Inevitably, spaceships are at the heart of the experience.

Fully customizable (size, shape, armament, etc.), it will be necessary to take care to manage the crew well to jump from one star system to another, from one planet to the next, even to defend against space threats . The player can land on the planets and explore them at will thanks to his avatar. Bethesda obliges, RPG components are planned, including skill trees to create a character gifted for combat or rather for negotiation among the many possibilities offered. If the conditions are met, it will be possible to establish colonies in order to extend its influence in the galaxy. Brief, Starfield promises hours of varied play and will be available on September 6th.

Star Wars: Outlaws

Finally, Ubisoft has aroused the curiosity (and impatience) of Star Wars fans with Star Wars: Outlaws. Yet another game in the universe created by Georges Lucas, you say? Yes, but an open world, which is ultimately not so widespread. For the moment, we know that the player embodies Kay Vess (who does not seem to possess any particular power related to the Force, for the moment), an outlaw who organizes a heist with her sidekick Nix. We don’t know much more about the story or the game system, but the cinematics revealed by the studio suggests an atmosphere close to the western, with necessarily spaceships, lasers and stormtroopers.

To find out more, you will have to watch the Ubisoft conference (Ubisoft Forward), this afternoon.
