Sunny start to school – successful start for Salzburg’s Taferl class

The sunny weather and late summer temperatures thrilled the new Taferlclassers in Salzburg on Monday. But in addition to the expectant students, teachers and representatives in particular see the challenges in the new semester.

Christoph, Lukas, Ajla, Ronja, Ben and Tobias have been visiting the Mauterndorf Biosphere Park Elementary School since Monday. Although most of the only 15 new students are sad that they haven’t learned anything on the first day, they are looking forward to the coming school year with their teacher Corinna Maier from Thomatal. While many are looking forward to the new semester with anticipation, the child and youth advocate is critical the lack of resources in the classrooms, especially the shortage of teachers. The personnel shortage should be compensated not only by lateral entrants, but also by soldiers. As a result, the teaching profession is losing respect.
