Super exclusive – Bugatti Centodieci: One of 10 around blue million euros

Ten of the Bugatti Centodieci are to be built, the super exclusive sports car based on the Bugatti Chiron. The first handcrafted copy will soon leave its home in Molsheim.

The design of the small series is intended to be reminiscent of the legendary EB110, the super sports car that was presented in 1991 to mark Ettore Bugatti’s 110th birthday. As expected, the ten Centodieci were sold immediately after their presentation at California’s Monterey Car Week 2019. The Centodieci revives memories of the brand’s more recent history, says Christophe Piochon, President of Bugatti Automobiles, in view of this success with collectors and other wealthy enthusiasts . The first Centodieci delivered to a customer is painted “Bugatti Bleu”. The paint shade is considered a symbol of Bugatti, the EB110 and the factory that built it. Shortly after its completion, the Campogalliano plant was called “Fabricca Blu” (blue factory) because part of the buildings were blue. Bugatti also chose this shade of blue for the presentation of the EB110. It is no coincidence that the first Centodieci delivered also shows the combination “Bugatti Bleu” and “EB 110 Silver” for the wheels: the customer owns a historic EB110 in exactly this color combination. Bugatti was also inspired by the predecessor for the interior . The quilted, checkered pattern familiar from the EB110 can be found in the Centodieci on the seats, headliner, door panels, center console and floor mats. Customized applications further enhance the work. The interior takes about 16 weeks to manufacture. Equipped with the 8.0 liter W16 engine with 1600 hp, the Centodieci accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds and has a top speed of 380 km/h. One or the other Centodieci will certainly be able to show off their strength once in a while. But with cars in this class, the driving data on paper primarily serves the purpose of keeping the value of the car at a level that matches the top speed. Seen in this way, the new model and its predecessors work hand in hand to increase the value of all Bugattis uphold international auctions. RM Sotheby’s auctioned a rare 1994 EB110 GT prototype on March 5, 2022 in Amelia Island, Florida for a record price of $2.1 million. A month earlier an enthusiast had paid €1,805,000 for a 1994 metallic gray EB110 GT at RM Sotheby’s in Paris and just a day later a blue 1996 EB110 GT fell at Bonhams for €1,817,000 including buyers premium Bargain compared to the Bugatti Centodieci: For the new car buyers pay 8 million euros plus taxes.
