Super-G in Beaver Creek – strong Kilde makes Odermatt despair again – sport

The duel between Aleksander Kilde and Marco Odermatt goes into the next round in Colorado – again with the better ending for the Norwegian.

The Top 4:

  • 1. Aleksander Kilde (NOR) 1:10.73 minutes
  • 2. Marco Odermatt (SUI) +0.20 seconds
  • 3. Alexis Pinturault (FRA) +0.30
  • 4. Gino Caviezel (SUI) +0.55

For once, Marco Odermatt, who was otherwise never at a loss for an answer, was at his wits end. After Aleksander Kilde crossed the finish line, the man from Nidwalden could only shake his head in disbelief and appreciation.

The second day of racing in the Rocky Mountains also had the expected duel between Odermatt and the Norwegian – with the 0.2 second better end for Kilde, who made up the difference in the final meters.

Behind them, Alexis Pinturault set a first exclamation point after a disappointing start to the season so far. With start number 3, the Frenchman hit the first section of the track perfectly and was able to celebrate his podium debut this winter.

Gino Caviezel, who was fourth, missed the podium by just a quarter of a second, but was still satisfied. The Graubünden native owed his second-best Super-G World Cup result ever to a strong second sector. Only in March of this year in Courchevel, France, did the Grisons come in better, coming third.

The other Swiss

The other Swiss-Ski athletes all missed out on the top 10. Stefan Rogentin mastered the course in Colorado best. After a cold start, the 28-year-old improved to finish 15th. Justin Murisier ranked right behind him – his run was also a step up. Once again, Beat Feuz didn’t get up to speed and ended the race outside of the top 20 drivers.

Cochran-Siegle experiences a moment of shock

Ryan Cochran-Siegle’s wild ride was exciting. After aiming for a jump that was too direct, the American only managed to avoid a fall after landing with a reflex. The 30-year-old saved himself in extremis between the goal posts and let the audience – including his mother – breathe a sigh of relief in the finish area.

The further program

The World Cup entourage is now traveling back to Europe: on the weekend of December 10th and 11th, the technicians will be challenged in a giant slalom (Saturday) and slalom (Sunday) in Val d’Isère in France – you can be there live on SRF.
