Four games, four assists, three goals! Including that fabulous in the Conference League qualification against Partizani Tirana – with an overhead kick (video above). Arthur Cabral pulls off his show again in the new season!
He is now at the extremely strong quota of 41 hits in 78 competitive games for FC Basel. The name of the Brazilian has long been on the list of numerous top European clubs. The speculation about an exit this summer is mounting. Will the clipper work until the end of the transfer window on August 31? Is the market only now really gaining momentum?
One thing is clear: if you let Cabral go, a replacement would be required, as FCB last said. And: You would only hand over the 23-year-old if the transfer was correct. It should be at least 12 million euros.
But it is also a fact: Cabral is very happy in Basel! And he wants to hunt down serial master YB in order to finally win a title in red-blue.
“This is Basel and I love it!”
After the sensational goal against Partizani, Cabral symbolically points to the FCB logo on the chest. Since the beginning of the season he has also been wearing the new ten. A shirt number that Basel legend Matias Delgado had already worn another South American crowd favorite.
He recently made his affection for FCB clear with a post on Instagram. To a cheering picture of him and his teammates at the 6-1 gala against Sion – finally back in front of an audience in the league – he writes: “This is Basel and I love it!”
Of course, FCB will only remain attractive if Cabral can continue to present itself in the shop window in Europe. To do this, the Basler must take the next qualification hurdle in the Conference League. In the first leg of the third round at Ujpest Budapest, Cabral can make a contribution himself! (mpe)
This is Ujpest Budapest
The FCB has to play against the Hungarian cup winner! Ujpest Budapest is something like the FC Sion of Hungary. More bad than right in the championship – but always top in the cup competition. In the past seven years, the capital city club and arch-rival Ferencvaros won the national cup three times. Last season it was only sixth in the league. The entry into qualifying round three of the Conference League, however, was fairly sovereign. A 2: 1 at home against Super League relegated Vaduz, a 3: 1 away in Liechtenstein. Now the team of ex-HSV trainer Michael Oenning is dreaming of entering a European Cup group stage for the first time. The hopes rest primarily on Sturmtank Junior Tallo (28) and ex-HSV and Kaiserslautern playmaker Zlotan Stieber (32). Ex-hopper Nemanja Antonov (26) is also no stranger to Switzerland. The championship start in Hungary was unsuccessful for Ujpest, with a 1: 2 against Puskas Akademia. (mpe)
