Superchargers: Tesla is offering free charging to everyone this Tuesday, August 29!

Ten years ago to the day, Tesla inaugurated its charging network in Europe, opening its first six Supercharger stations in Norway. And to celebrate this anniversary, the electric car manufacturer is offering free charging at its European terminals this Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

The offer is valid for charging sessions starting between 9:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m. today. “The event is open to Tesla owners and non-owners, with or without a subscription, as well as customers paying via Chargemap in France”says Tesla.

This offer is therefore a great opportunity to try Tesla’s charging network, which is undoubtedly among the simplest to use and the cheapest in normal times. Please note, however, that not all Supercharger stations are accessible to electric cars from other manufacturers with a CCS socket. Additionally, the location of the charging port on some models may not be compatible with charging on a Supercharger due to the cable length of the Tesla charging stations.

We can therefore expect the crowds to be particularly high at Tesla’s charging stations. Those planning a long drive today should take this factor into account.

More than 1000 charging stations in Europe

According to the specialized site supercharge.info, the network of Superchargers currently has 5,694 charging stations open worldwide, including 1,109 in Europe. 942 other stations are under construction on the Old Continent. The latest iteration of Tesla’s charging stations, called Supercharger V4, achieves up to 350 kW of charging power.
