Even arch enemies are looking forward to it arm in arm: “Superman: Legacy” is scheduled to begin filming next week.

The hero’s journey of the alien Kal-El, better known as Superman aka Clark Kent, is set to come to the big screen once again. “Superman: Legacy” will be captured on film starting next week, as the US industry website “Variety” now reports. David Zaslav (64), the head of Warner Bros. Discovery, revealed this. That it will start soon, is also in view of the first group photo of the illustrious cast of the comic film adaptation.

The director of the film and new strong man at DC, James Gunn (57), published the corresponding selfie on his official Instagram account. It was created after reading the script together.

In the photo you can see Gunn and co-producer Peter Safran (58), the confirmed leading actors of “Superman: Legacy”. In the foreground is “Castle” star Nathan Fillion (52) as the author of the selfie. He will play the character Guy Gardner in the film – one of the people known as the superhero Green Lantern in the comics.

Directly behind Fillion are four women: Sara Sampaio (32), who plays Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela de Faría (31), who plays villain The Engineer, Isabela Merced (22), who slips into the hero costume of Hawkgirl, and Rachel Brosnahan (33). The latter plays Superman’s great love, Lois Lane.

Also appearing are Edi Gathegi (44, Mister Terrific), Skyler Gisondo (27, Jimmy Olsen), Terence Rosemore (59, Otis) and Anthony Carrigan (41, Metamorpho). Meanwhile, in the background, two arch-enemies are making love: the new Superman, actor David Corenswet (30), hugs a shaved-head Nicholas Hoult (34). His hairstyle already suggests it – he plays the main villain Lex Luthor.

The film is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025. The core of the plot should also be familiar to those who don’t like comics: In “Superman: Legacy”, screenwriter and director Gunn tells the story of a younger Superman who begins to work at the daily newspaper The Daily Planet. There he met his future great love, Lois Lane, and became the superhero Superman in Metropolis.
