Supermassive Games (The Quarry) acquired by Nordisk Games


Nordisk Games, which owns the Just Cause studio, has just acquired Supermassive Games (The Quarry, The Dark Pictures…). The band already owned a significant share of the studio.

Consolidation in the video game industry resumes in July. This time, Nordisk Games is pulling out the checkbook to buy Supermassive Games. The developers of The Quarry, The Dark Pictures: Anthology or Until Dawn.

Supermassive Games joins the Just Cause teams

It’s not PlayStation, Nintendo, Xbox or even Embracer Group, but Nordisk Games is growing at its own pace. After absorbing Avalanche Studios (Just Cause, Mad Max, Rage 2) and taking a 40% stake in MercurySteam (Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Metroid Dread), the group acquired Supermassive Games.

The independent studio that produces horror titles such as The Quarry or the future The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me. CEO Pete Samuels is very happy to be able to continue alongside Nordisk Games.

After having had such a positive experience over the past year, accepting Nordisk Games’ request to increase its participation was not a difficult decision to make. We have a promising and ambitious growth strategy for Supermassive Games. The participation of Nordisk Games only strengthens it. I’m very excited to see where the security offered by this partnership, and the continued access to Nordisk Games’ expertise, will take us.
