Superstromer – Mercedes-AMG EQE: Business sport with volts instead of V8

For a long time, AMG primarily stood for beefy V8 and V12 engines. Now the high-performance department of Mercedes is bringing its second E-series onto the road after the sports variant of the EQS luxury-class electric car. When it comes to the performance values, everything stays on the same track.

The EQE business sedan has an output of up to 505 kW/687 hp and 1000 Nm of torque in the refined version .2 seconds to 100 km/h and allows speeds of up to 210 km/h. A permanently excited synchronous motor (PSM) is located on the front and rear axles, which means that all-wheel drive is available if required. The 90.6 kWh battery in the underbody is said to be good for a journey of up to 533 kilometers. The EQE 53 4Matic Plus is designed more for performance than for long-distance suitability 3.5 seconds presses. Here, AMG increases the maximum speed to 220 km/h. A “Dynamic Plus Package” is available as an option, which increases engine output to 505 kW/687 hp. The torque increases by 50 Nm. The top speed is 240 km/h, the sprint time 3.3 seconds. However, the standard range of up to 518 kilometers should no longer be possible if these values are exhausted. All variants are charged via the standard 11 kW on-board charger, which can optionally be upgraded to 22 kW. Up to 170 kW can be accessed on the fast charger. The manufacturer specifies the power consumption as 19.7 to 23.2 kWh, depending on the version and equipment. Visually, the AMG EQE, like the larger EQS, is relatively unobtrusive, both largely do without the usual muscle flexing of their combustion engine relatives but recognizable by the special front grille with vertical struts. In line with the sporty requirements, Mercedes has also reprogrammed the drive program selection and added, among other things, a race start function and an engine sound simulator. There is also a high-performance brake system and the rear axle steering, which is familiar from the more civil models. The market launch should take place in the second half of the year, with prices starting at around 100,000 euros. (SPX)
