Four police unions, led by Alliance, are received from 10 a.m. at the Elysee Palace this Friday. An interview requested in a letter written to Emmanuel Macron after the violence of May 1, entitled “The police house is burning”. They intend to sound the alarm on the violence suffered by the police during the demonstrations.

Emmanuel Macron’s cabinet will receive the four main police unions this Friday from 10 a.m. A response to the request, in a letter entitled “The police house is burning”, for a meeting after the violence which targeted the police on May 1 and which targets the police and gendarmes every day of Demonstration against pension reform.

“We do not understand if he is on our side or that of the thugs”

With more than 400 police officers and gendarmes injured during the demonstration on May 1, the signatories of this letter denounce an “apocalyptic” situation. “Fear must change sides,” write these four organizations led by the powerful Alliance police union.

This Friday morning, facing Emmanuel Macron’s chief of staff, Patrick Sztroda and his interior adviser, the prefect Frédéric Roze, the police are waiting for a strong gesture. “We do not understand if he is on our side or that of the thugs. We are told that he has already given a lot to the police, but what we want is an ideological reversal at the top of the State”, claims one of the participants who also regrets that the Head of State did not condemn the violence which punctuated the demonstrations.

A new anti-thug law?

The police will also ask the Elysée for a new anti-thug law. Place Beauvau is currently working on new measures such as the possibility of pronouncing administrative bans on demonstrations or the creation of an offense of building barricades. So many provisions that the unions of magistrates judge in unison as safe and draconian.
