Wendy Holdener will no longer be able to compete in races for a long time. The 30-year-old fractured her left ankle when she fell into the safety net, as tests at the hospital in Zurich revealed. The mishap happened during slalom training in Pozza di Fassa, Italy.

Holdener will undergo surgery on Tuesday. She will then have to immobilize her left foot for around two months.

The end of the season is looming

It is currently not certain whether the woman from Schwyz will continue racing this season. Team doctor Walter O. Frey explained in a statement from Swiss-Ski: “After the immobilization phase at the end of February and beginning of March, we will decide whether she will intervene in racing again in the 2023/24 season.”
