Report: FC Bayern wants national players to replace Pavard

Has Benjamin Pavard trained at FC Bayern for the last time? The Frenchman is likely to move to Inter Milan. The German national player Lukas Klostermann, who is currently only a substitute at RB Leipzig, is to become his successor. And what about Noussair Mazraoui?

In the search for a possible successor for Benjamin Pavard, who was willing to emigrate, FC Bayern Munich has, according to media reports, targeted a German national soccer player. As reported by the “Münchner Abendzeitung” and the “Sportbuzzer” portal, among others, defender Lukas Klostermann is under discussion with the Bayern bosses. Klostermann’s contract with RB expires in the summer of 2024. In this transfer period, the Bundesliga club from Saxony could still receive a fee for the 27-year-old.

In the absence of star shopping Harry Kane, who had become a father for the fourth time, Pavard trained with his teammates on Säbener Straße in the morning in the first public training session of the new season – possibly for the last time. In exchange poker for the 27-year-old, Munich is said to have agreed with Inter Milan. Bayern should receive a fixed fee of 28 million euros plus five million euros in bonuses.

Pavard does not want to extend his contract on the Isar, which runs until summer 2024, and has been pushing for a farewell for weeks. The German soccer record champion will only finally agree to the transfer once a replacement has been found. Klostermann could be that substitute. The defender was ousted on right-back by Benjamin Henrichs at RB. He was on the bench for 90 minutes in the 2-3 Bundesliga opener against Bayer Leverkusen. In the Supercup against Bayern, Klostermann only made one short appearance.

At FC Bayern, Noussair Mazraoui was preferred to the back right at the start of the Bundesliga season at Werder Bremen. The Moroccan showed a decent performance and was allowed to play through. Last season, the 25-year-old complained several times about not having enough playing time, he had come to most of his appearances for Munich before the Winter World Cup in Qatar. Now he has to compete with Klostermann.
