Townsville is home to several merchants who accept cryptocurrency, and Jonathan Silverblood, who attended the 2019 Bitcoin Cash City conference, planned to return to the Australian city as soon as the Covid-19 restrictions lift.

Purchases in BCH: problems and prospects
Last October 8, the programmer indicated, in a tweet, that he had then personally realized 97 trades in BCH to pay his ” life “ for 59 days in Townsville.
Of the 69 nights he spent in the city, he will eventually have performed in total 130 trades in Bitcoin Cash, for the purchase of goods and services in cafes, restaurants, hotels, to pay a dentist for a tooth extraction or to pay the bill for a haircut.
However, Jonathan Silverblood encountered some friction when paying Bitcoin Cash. He mentions in particular electricity problems affecting payment terminals, access to Wi-Fi or those relating to merchants who simply do not accept cryptocurrency to avoid complicating their accounting or of fear of volatility of the BCH.
He had encountered one of these problems when he arrived in Townsville. A competing company had bought the taxi company that accepted payments in Bitcoin Cash.
Jonathan Silverblood plans to repeat this experience “in just a few weeks”at St Kittswhich will host the Bitcoin Cash 2022 conference.
