Did she smear herself with mud for a flood post to look more authentic? RTL now put Susanna Ohlen on leave and took a position.
The presenter Susanna Ohlen (39) is currently no longer working for RTL. As the broadcaster of the “Bild” newspaper confirmed, she was on leave. The reason: She is said to have smeared herself with mud in front of a switch in the disaster area – possibly to look more authentic in front of the camera. A video showing the alleged action was previously posted on Twitter. “Our reporter’s approach clearly contradicts journalistic principles and our own standards,” said the station’s statement.
That is why Ohlen was “put on leave on Monday after we heard about it”. Before that, Ohlen was seen in an RTL report in which she was also seen during clean-up work in the badly affected town of Bad Münstereifel and reported on the massive destruction. Born in Cologne, Ohlen has worked for RTL for many years and was seen there in the formats “Guten Abend RTL”, “Guten Morgen Deutschland” and “Punkt 12”, among others.
