Suspect in sight – arson attack on car: police follow the first lead

The investigations are in full swing after a car in Großpetersdorf (Burgenland) went up in flames during the night. 13 hours before the arson attack, a suspect was noticed who had apparently taken photos of the car as it drove past the parking lot.

The shock runs deep! In the night from Friday, July 14th, to Saturday, a 22-year-old from Großpetersdorf had to witness – as reported – how her car was engulfed in flames in front of the apartment. Torn from her sleep, she and her two daughters are already in bed located. “At 10:40 p.m. I heard a noise in the street, it sounded like glass breaking. When I looked out the window, the roof of my car was already on fire,” reported the horrified owner. Strange observation Out of sheer excitement, she first alerted the emergency services and then the fire brigade. According to the car owner, no one was near the scene of the crime at the time of the arson attack. But later the 22-year-old remembered that she had already made a strange observation on the morning of July 14. Suspect took photos. A man drove past her car parked in the parking lot and apparently took photos of the small car with his cell phone. The investigators are now pursuing this “hot” lead. Dispute about money as a motive? The suspect is a man who was close to the woman. A dispute over money could be a possible motive. Special officials were on site Monday. You cannot rule out that the perpetrator used a fire accelerant. A sniffer dog is now deployed.
