Suspicion of undeclared work – school test laboratory in the sights of financial investigators

There are serious allegations against the school test laboratory group around the Tauern Clinic. The finance police recently showed up at a branch office in Wals-Siezenheim. Now the talk is of undeclared work and wage dumping. The managing director of the ARGE firmly rejects this.

The laboratory community, which took over the Austria-wide processing of the PCR school tests at the beginning of the year, is making negative headlines again. According to the laboratory group, the evaluation of the school tests should work smoothly from next week, but there is now another scandal: the financial police were at the door because of an anonymous tip. In a branch in Wals-Siezenheim, the officials are said to have found employees who were not registered or who were not registered at all – there is apparently a suspicion of undeclared work, wage dumping and social benefit fraud back to “Krone” inquiry: “There were no complaints from the employees of the ARGE.” The laboratory community also works with temporary employment agencies. “Here, too, we have been assured by the companies that all workers are registered accordingly,” says the ARGE boss. In the house in Siezenheim, the PCR tests are unpacked and prepared for evaluation. It takes place in Bergheim. Chamber of Labor questions federal criteria. The school test contract is between 93 and 330 million euros. The laboratory community was awarded the contract by the federal government – they also offered the best price. Salzburg AK President Peter Eder: “If the accusations are true, one has to ask oneself why the federal government does not question how the contract can be offered so cheaply. For 22 months there have been companies that have been competing with reputable companies because they expect large cash flows.” So far, employees from the laboratory community have not reported to either the Chamber of Labor or the union. Four laboratories belong to the ARGE for Molecular Diagnostics, but the school tests only wrap the Salzburg companies Procomcure and Tauernlabor. The parent company of the Zeller Tauernlabor “Gesundheit Innergebirg” together with Managing Director Franz Öller (picture) recently received sharp criticism from the Court of Auditors for the interweaving of public and private interests. The state of Salzburg has now commissioned a new examination.
