Svazek about Nehammer: – “As with Kurz, a lot of shows and announcements”

Although the new ÖVP boss Karl Nehammer has filled some ministries, Karoline Edtstadler from Salzburg remains constitutional and European minister. She was discussed as Minister of the Interior. Salzburg’s opposition finds nothing more positive about the reshuffle, and the Greens see themselves as the anchor of stability.

Both SPÖ and FPÖ agree: The Lower Austrian People’s Party has taken the helm again with the blacks. “Nehammer first has to prove whether the turquoise system has an end. In any case, it is an opportunity and the task for Nehammer to restore order, ”says Salzburg’s SPÖ boss David Egger. For him, the new government team is “the worst of both worlds”. On the one hand the old ÖVP and on the other hand the turquoise substitute bench squad. He expects new elections soon. Government parties hope for stability and calm. FP boss Marlene Svazek does not see a vote yet. “But many of the members of the government were not on any electoral list. It cannot be that the ÖVP alone decides who rules the country, ”said Svazek. Sooner or later there will have to be new elections. She still knows the future Federal Chancellor from her time in Vienna when both were General Secretaries: “He covers up a lack of competence with fanaticism. His hardliner image on the asylum issue is not underpinned by realpolitik. As with Kurz, there is a lot of show and announcement. ”For Neos boss Andrea Klambauer, the ÖVP should finally take care of the country again and not of itself. Clearly, Salzburg’s ÖVP and the Greens found positive words. State Vice-President Heinrich Schellhorn (Greens) is hoping for more peace and quiet and sees Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler as the anchor of stability in the federal government.
