  • With Martin Fuchs (1st) and Bryan Balsiger (3rd), 2 Swiss made it onto the podium at the Grand Prix at CSIO St. Gallen.
  • Second place goes to Belgian Wilm Vermeir.
  • Edouard Schmitz (4th), Alain Jufer (8th), Pius Schwizer (11th) and Elian Baumann (12th) round off the strong Swiss team result at the CSIO.

Switzerland was represented with 6 show jumpers in the decision-making process in the Grand Prix at the CSIO in St. Gallen. In the end, two locals, Martin Fuchs (on Connor Jei) and Bryan Balsiger (on Dubai du Bois Pinchet), made it onto the podium.

Fuchs added another big title to his impressive palmarès with the premiere victory in St. Gallen. The world number 2 outclassed the competition in the jump-off with a lead of almost 2 seconds on the second-placed Belgian Wilm Vermeir. Bryan Balsiger from Neuchâtel, who was ranked 3rd, also had no chance.

Schmitz narrowly missed the podium

If Vermeir had made a mistake, there would have been a Swiss triple victory, because Edouard Schmitz on Quno finished fourth. In general, Switzerland showed a strong team performance: Alain Jufer with Dante (8th), Pius Schwizer on Vancouver (11th) and Elian Baumann with Campari (12th) also rode in the jump-off. And Steve Guerdat only tore a plank on the only 9-year-old hopeful Taina at the end of the course.

Sven Schlüsselburg caused a moment of shock. His horse Bud Spencer missed a jump and immediately cleared an entire obstacle. Instead of fighting for the podium after his zero-fault ride in the first round, the German dropped back to 13th place.
