Sylvie Meis: she finds the ban on church weddings "absurd"

Sylvie Meis will be remarried in a few weeks. Now she has revealed new details about her wedding to Niclas Castello in Florence.

In around four weeks, the wedding bells will ring for Sylvie Meis (42) and her fiancé Niclas Castello (42) in Florence. In an interview with the magazine "Bunte" she spoke in detail about the planned wedding and revealed that all official hurdles had been cleared. However, she is only allowed to marry in a civil ceremony, a church wedding is currently not possible due to her first marriage to Rafael van der Vaart (37). "That is absurd," says Meis in an interview. She is very angry about it.

She was only allowed to marry again in church if she had her marriage to van der Vaart annulled. "I am a member of the Catholic Church and pay church tax," says Meis.

However, all documents have now been collected for the Italian office. A document that certifies that they are fit for marriage was in the mail yesterday: "I can get married." She had to apply for documents from different cities and send them to the Dutch embassy in Rome. "Birth certificate, family register, papers from my first wedding, confirmation of divorce and a form from the Hamburg registry office, where I live," says Meis.

Her name is still Sylvie Meis

Sylvie Meis will keep her maiden name, which she took on again after the divorce from van der Vaart: "I will not be Mrs. Zerbs (Niclas Castello's real name is Norbert Zerbs, editor's note). No matter how much I love Niclas. ( …) I'm Sylvie Meis, "continues the TV presenter. There will probably not be any children in the coming marriage either: "We have decided not to have a baby anymore." Damian (14), her son from her marriage to van der Vaart, is the "bonus son" of her future son.

Van der Vaart Junior – who has been living with his father Rafael in Denmark for a few weeks in order to pursue his dream of a professional football career – will also lead you to the altar: "The moment is going to be madness. We go down a large staircase and then through the whole garden. It is extremely important to me that my son leads me into the hands of my future husband. " The ceremony will be held in the garden of the luxury hotel Villa Cora in the Tuscan city.
