“It’s really a dream come true for me,” enthuses Sylvie Meis (45). The presenter takes a look behind the scenes of the new Disney musical “Hercules,” which will celebrate its world premiere on March 24, 2024. At the Stage Theater Neue Flora in Hamburg, preparations are in full swing and the stage is being transformed into the fantastic mythical world of the gods. In keeping with the show, Sylvie Meis is allowed to transform into a Greek goddess. “I am an absolute fashion fan. Being able to slip into a divine robe is a wonderful experience for me,” said the 45-year-old.

Will a new career as a musical star follow?

The model has a penchant for eye-catching dresses, which she proves again and again on the red carpet. The Dutch-born woman regularly attracts flashbulbs with her outfits. But there is also a lot of preparation behind it. “We plan on average three hours from hair and make-up to getting dressed and a few pictures for social media,” reveals the multi-talented person, who is a model, presenter, designer and entrepreneur. Will Meis soon be able to add a musical engagement to her CV?

“If I could sing, then yes. But since I can’t, I wouldn’t be an asset to the cast or a musical show as a participant,” admits Meis. For the “Hercules” musical, a 38-member cast brings Hercules’ journey to life on stage. The musical’s total of 266 opulent costumes and countless accessories allow the actors to become completely one with the characters from the Greek world of gods. The costume design is inspired by ancient Greece and the world’s great catwalks. Stage designs with modern video technology and special effects allow the audience to immerse themselves in the world of Greek heroes and gods.

The title role is played by musical star Benét Monteiro (38). The composer and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (74) is responsible for the musical production of the story. Disney fans can look forward to hits from the classic 1997 film, but also new songs composed especially for the musical.

She has had to prove her strength several times

For personal reasons, Meis has a very special connection to the Disney classic “Hercules”: “The story of this hero touches me because he always has to prove his strength and has such a big heart. I often had to find my real strength myself. Hercules reminds me of that,” said the powerful woman. She will be there at the “Hercules” world premiere on March 24th at the Stage Theater Neue Flora in Hamburg. For Meis, the performance is a home game, after all, she has lived in the Hanseatic city for many years. She is pleased that a Disney play is celebrating its world premiere in her adopted hometown: “I love Hamburg. That’s why I’m incredibly proud that the musical is premiering in the Hanseatic city.”
