On the set of “Touche pas à mon poste”, Sylvie Tellier returned to the controversy around the hairstyle of Miss Aquitaine during the election.

With each election of Miss France its controversy. This Saturday, December 11, 29 young women claimed the title of Miss France 2022 and it was finally Diane Leyre, Miss Ile-de-France, who won the coveted crown and scarf. But since the election, the Miss France committee has been accused of racism. The reason ? The hairdresser partner of the competition replaced the beautiful afro haircut of Ambre Andrieu (Miss Aquitaine) with simple waves. A change that greatly displeased Internet users who consider that this choice has “destroy” her true nature of hair and didn’t show off her at all. For some Internet users, this miss is due to the lack of competence of the hairdressers of the election to deal with curly hair, deploring failures every year. “The Miss France committee should hire specialized hairdressers for Afro hair, because every year there are disasters”, wrote one of them on Twitter.

Invited on the set of “Touche pas à mon poste” this Monday, December 13, Sylvie Tellier reacted to this controversy. And according to the director of the organization Miss France, this hair choice would be that of the candidate. “What they are told is that: ‘You have hairdressers, makeup artists who are there to sublimate you. You only leave your makeup and hairdressing position when it pleases you. It’s very important'”. If she understands that this change may have appealed to viewers, who saw her with her beautiful afro cut in her portrait, Sylvie Tellier believes that everyone’s tastes must be respected: “After all, we have the right to do what we like with our hair”.

“She loved this hairstyle”

Present at his side, the new Miss France 2022, Diane Leyre, confirmed that each Miss “Was free to ask” the desired makeup and the desired hairstyle. And according to her, it was the choice of Ambre Andrieu. “I specify that I was with her in the dressing rooms when she did the hairstyle, and that’s what she asked for as a hairstyle. She loved it”.

A capillary freedom that the 29 title contenders enjoy during the show except from the first selection: “The only thing that is imposed on them, for example, is that from the age of 15, their hair is tied up. It is true that it is production that imposes it”, said Sylvie Tellier. What to stop the controversy?
