Synology Pro Testers: Evaluate an All-Flash Server

It’s time to kick-start your storage infrastructure. In partnership with Synology, we invite you to test a 100% flash server, equipped with the manufacturer’s professional SSDs. For one month, we entrust you with a FlashStation FS2500 that you can freely use within your company, in order to evaluate it from every angle.

Performance, ease of installation, integration with your information system or even ergonomics of the administration interface, you will have the opportunity for a whole month to get an opinion in real conditions on this platform launched in December 2021. You can then share your observations with other ZDNet readers and offer them feedback on the relevance of the solution proposed by Synology.

A wide range of uses

The FS2500 is an infrastructure designed for SMBs. Its 1U chassis and 12 x 2.5″ SATA SSD bays give it the ideal compactness and performance to support applications requiring fast, low-latency storage in small to midsize deployments. Testing achieved by Synology announce up to 170,000/82,000 4K random read/write IOPS and sequential read/write performance of more than 4,700/2,500 MB/s. Synology FS2500 is a versatile platform that can find its place in a wide variety of organizations. It’s up to you to define the best use for your business! Certified for VM and container storage, Synology FS2500 can integrate with your virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer and OpenStack) and easily replace aging SAN storage arrays or act as an alternate host for virtual machines tools and run Docker containers.

Simple installation and use

Known for the simplicity of its tools, Synology has logically taken care of the ease of installation and use of its solution. The FS2500 offers convenient networking options, with dual 10GbE and 1GbE ports, as well as built-in management features that make it easy to integrate into existing environments and promise low maintenance. Equipped with the DiskStation Manager (DSM) operating system, the server also includes all the tools to ensure the availability of your applications and the protection of your data. Automatic disk repair, failover in the event of a disaster, replication and version control, backup on site or in the cloud, you can test all its features and thus check its ability to maintain your activity in all circumstances. VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V environments can also be easily protected with the agentless virtual machine backup technology offered within Active Backup for Business. An organization like UNESCO, for example, uses it to back up data from virtual machines in its 70 offices around the world.

A ready-to-use collaborative private cloud

Many companies are currently looking for a simple way to offer their employees an efficient hybrid work environment, to allow them to work and collaborate from anywhere in a secure way. The FS2500 can be that way, thanks to the integration of Synology’s productivity suite. Synology Office, Drive, Chat, MailPlus or Calendar applications allow people who work on site and remotely to simultaneously edit documents, share files, manage e-mails or send instant messages, all within a completely controlled private cloud environment.

Test for yourself!

So, if you want to evaluate this infrastructure on behalf of your company, just fill out the questionnaire below. The four selected candidates will be contacted by e-mail to confirm their participation, read the test sheet to follow and organize the loan of the products. Please note, this is a life-size test and not a competition; the equipment must therefore be returned at the end of the operation.
