Many people use the Microsoft browser Edge – even outside of Windows. These tricks make surfing easier.

Microsoft’s web browser Edge has the number of users in Germany according to the statistics portal Statista Although it is behind Google’s Chrome and Mozilla’s Firefox, it is still used by millions of Windows users worldwide. Knowing these tips and tricks makes life easier and a little bit safer.

Limit snooping

Anyone who feels they are being followed by cookies, trackers and their saved page history has the option in Edge to send all data via the digital Jordan every time the browser is closed. Although this means that you have to select the relevant options again the next time you call up a page, the potentially sensitive data can no longer be viewed. In the browser options, for example, under “Privacy” you can set exactly which data should be deleted when you close the browser. In the same menu, under “Tracking prevention”, users can also choose which trackers currently receive which approval – and prohibit them if they wish.

The Useful World of Sync

Anyone who uses Edge as their default browser on other devices will do themselves a favor by creating an Edge profile. From the most frequently visited websites, to the stored passwords and form filling data, to the tabs currently open, users can use all data on multiple end devices. It also doesn’t matter whether the devices are Windows, iOS or Android-powered. Users can find the synchronization option under the account settings of the browser.

More overview in the tab jungle

Most people are probably familiar with the problem: After surfing for a while, there are more and more open tabs in the browser, and orientation is becoming increasingly difficult. Edge has the following solution ready when organizing the tabs. Arranging the tabs vertically instead of horizontally can help. This can make websites easier to find at a glance, making navigation easier. To do this, right-click (Windows) or two-finger click (Apple) on a tab to find the vertical and other options. This also includes pinning tabs or being able to create collections of certain pages.
