Judith Rakers (48) moderated the “Tagesschau” news for the last time on Tuesday evening (January 31st). In a cream-colored one-piece suit with a black waist belt, Rakers presented news about, among other things, the general debate in the Bundestag, the Ukrainian war and an auction by the musician Mark Knopfler (74).

Flowers from the “best colleagues in the world”

After the weather, the presenter addressed the audience: “And now, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to say a very subtle goodbye,” she began. “Thank you for letting me into your living room again and again over the last 19 years and thank you to the best colleagues in the world,” she said goodbye. Rakers was then surprised with bouquets of flowers by her colleagues while the lights in the studio went out.

Rakers was considered one of the most popular news presenters in Germany. It was only in mid-January that NDR announced that she would be leaving the news program at her own request after 19 years.

Numerous projects related to home farming

On too Instagram Rakers shared the news with her followers on January 16th and announced what she wanted to focus on now: several home farming projects. Accordingly, she started “writing books about vegetable growing, nature and gardening – my great passion.”

Rakers has set up a small editorial team and an online magazine, and produces sustainable products and a podcast under her own brand, she reported. Her first children’s book, “Judith’s Little Farm,” was recently published. An experimental kit for growing vegetables is also on the agenda. She is also working on a family board game.

Judith Rakers does not completely disappear from the television screen: the 48-year-old will remain with the audience as the presenter of the Radio Bremen talk show “3nach9” and the ARD travel magazine “Wunderschön”.
