Officialized a few days ago, the new console from Atari, namely the Atari 2600+, is now available for pre-order.

Yes, you read correctly, this emblematic second generation video game console, produced by Atari between 1977 and 1992, is preparing its comeback in a climate favorable to retro consoles. In addition to a 10-in-1 cartridge, the Atari 2600+ will feature the CX40+ gamepad, recreated with the same size and layout as the original Atari 2600 gamepad.

Atari 2600, soon to return, in “Plus” version

Change of direction for Atari which has launched 3 new consoles and after the VCS fiasco, which will therefore offer (old?) players the opportunity to treat themselves at Christmas to a “Plus” version of its Atari 2600 which has surprisingly benefited from a new game lately. The new console obviously takes the iconic look of the original machine, and will be delivered with a cartridge integrating ten of the most important video games in Atari history, including Adventure And Missile Command.

2023 obliges, this new Atari 2600+ console is inspired by the original machine, but integrates very modern functions such as HDMI output, USB power and multiple screen resolutions available. Best of all, the cartridge drive is backwards compatible with Atari 2600 and 7800 games!

The new Atari 2600+ console will be available from November 17, 2023, and can already be pre-ordered, provided you are willing to pay €119.99.
