“Right from the start I always said to myself: ‘Dying is out of the question for me!'” Explains Tanja Bülter after her last chemotherapy.

RTL presenter Tanja Bülter (49) made her first public appearance since she was diagnosed with cancer last year at the weekend, just a few weeks after the end of her chemotherapy. She moderated the “YES! Con 2021” (September 18 and 19), the largest cancer convention for those affected and experts. In an interview with RTL she looked back on the past year and explained how she has survived the difficult time since the diagnosis in October 2020.

“That was the worst year I’ve ever had,” says the single mother of two. “Cancer is always equated with: You die immediately. But medicine and science have made such great leaps in recent years and I have benefited from them,” continues Bülter. That’s why she said to herself right from the start: “I’m actually out of the question of dying. That’s not even possible because I have two children and they are waiting for me at home, so I damn well have to be there for them.” Her children would have helped her most of all through the dark times – “they were my engine”. Bülter’s treatments have been completed, according to RTL, the presenter now has to have a follow-up examination every three months.

Now the presenter, who continued to moderate her RTL celebrity talk “Vipstagram” during the treatment, wants to take better care of herself. She has resolved that from now on she will deliberately plunge into life. She learned to say no from time to time and banned people from her circle of friends who stole her strength from her life.
