“Tatort” exit for Batic and Leitmayr
Sunday crime fans mostly think it’s a shame

The “Tatort” detectives Batic and Leitmayr are quitting. After the farewell announcement, fans also discuss the successor.
On Tuesday evening, Bayerischer Rundfunk surprised everyone with the announcement that the Munich “Crime scene investigators Ivo Nemec and Franz Leitmayr (since 1991) will retire from duty after 35 years and then 100 cases. In the next two years there will be another seven cases involving the actors Miroslav Nemec (69) and Udo Wachtveitl (65). The next one, “Tatort: Dass Wunderkind”, will be broadcast on Das Erste on February 4th at 8:15 p.m.
“We are proud of this unique collaboration and are really looking forward to two more years!” says the broadcaster. And how do the fans rule? Partly dismayed, as can be read on the fan page “How was the “crime scene” on Instagram.
Lots of tear emojis
“Nope, not my favorite team,” writes one follower with two crying emojis. “It’s going to be bad,” another commented on the future prospects. “My favorite team. I’ll miss them,” cries another follower. Again and again you read “it’s a shame” and “a great team”.
“If Vienna and Münster also stop, we need a new Sunday activity,” writes one viewer sweetly and sourly. Another sees it similarly: “One of my favorites besides the people of Cologne. If they stop soon, I’ll stop watching ‘Tatort’.”
Great understanding
In addition to the grief, there is also a lot of understanding: “You can understand,” writes one user. “Then we want to really enjoy the last episodes with the legendary inspectors,” she adds. “I see it the same way, 35 years is a long time and it’s completely understandable that it will end at some point, but it’s still such a shame,” a follower refers to the comment mentioned and confirms: “We’re just enjoying the great consequences until 2026.” Another writes: “You deserve retirement.”
The fact that the farewell was announced so long in advance is well received by the fans of the Munich team: “I think it’s good, I can lovingly think about the idea of saying goodbye to my absolute favorite team! Thank you, you two wonderful people!!!” is the answer a comment on it. “Good team, but also a good decision!” sums up another.
How do Batic and Leitmayr leave the service?
Of course, the question of how Batic and Leitmayr will quit the job remains exciting until the end. “Please don’t die,” begs one follower. Others, on the other hand, joke: “Whether the two of them are investigating the walker in the last ‘crime scene’?”
The announced end at least gives this follower hope for a peaceful farewell: “I like them both, but they are now of retirement age and don’t have to be shot or leave in an unfortunate way.”
And what’s next for the Munich team?
The topic of succession is also already discussed under the post. The BR simply said: “Whoever joins the ‘Tatort’ Munich team after the end of this era from 2026 will be decided calmly and announced in due course.”
However, the audience sees one person at the forefront: the long-time assistant Kalli Hammermann, who has been played by Ferdinand Hofer (30) since 2014. “Hopefully Kalli Hammermann will then continue with a new partner,” you can read. Or: “I like them both very much. I’m hoping for Kalli as my successor.”
“Kalli can continue?” asks another follower pleadingly. And addressed to him personally, she wrote: “You are now so great in the team, so established, so wise, so smart, smarter than the police allow, but always on an equal footing with Batic and Leitmayr (even if they would never admit it until now) !!!!!!”
