Tax due – “Please pay”: mail from the mayor to everyone

Now the time has come: Innsbruck residents who own an apartment that has been empty for over six months will be asked to pay. 1700 euros for 2023 for 80 square meters – to get an idea of the costs. However, the primary goal is not to collect taxes, as BM Georg Willi (Greens) explains, but rather to have more apartments rented out. Neither one nor the other is currently happening: 3,523 empty apartments (approx. 8.8 percent of all apartments in Innsbruck) are currently (as reported) facing only 23 tax payers – there is still time until April to pay.
