The concert ticket provider Ticketmaster has stopped the advance sale for the American stadium tour of the superstar Taylor Swift. “Due to exceptionally high demand on its ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet demand, tomorrow’s public advance sale for Taylor Swift, The Eras Tour has been cancelled,” the company said on Twitter on Thursday.
The sale of tickets had already caused a stir this week. As “Variety” and the “New York Times” reported, the servers for registered fans collapsed when sales started on Tuesday. Fans had to wait hours to get a ticket. Ticketmaster itself spoke on Twitter on Tuesday of a “historically unprecedented” demand, millions of fans would have wanted to get a ticket. Hundreds of thousands have been sold.

Taylor Swift and her followers are not only moving into new spheres when it comes to ticket sales: When Swift’s new album “Midnights” was released on October 21, the great rush of her fans, who wanted to listen to the album as early as possible, brought the streaming service Spotify to a standstill. With the same album, the eleven-time Grammy winner occupied the first ten places on the American Billboard charts. That has never happened before.

At the American Music Awards (AMA), Swift could soon break another record she set herself: With 34 AMA trophies, the musician has already won more than any other artist in the history of these awards.
This time Swift is nominated in six categories, including “Artist of the Year”, “Best Music Video” and “Best Pop Album”. However, because her current album “Midnights” was only released after the deadline relevant for the awards, the nominations apply to her previous album “Red (Taylor’s Version)” from 2021.
