During an event in Paris, the manufacturer TCL presented a host of connected products, including televisions, refrigerators and smartphones, but also two gaming monitors which inaugurate the R8 series. Two models will be launched for this range: the 34R83Q, a 34-inch curved screen in 21:9 format in WQHD definition (3440 x 1440), and a 27-inch 27R83Q flat screen (4K 3840 x 2160).
A peak at 1400 cd/m²!
With their Mini-Led panels, and no less than 1100 backlight zones, they could well compete with current Oled and QD-Oled screens and are likely to hit hard, because they offer HDR1400 certification. A bright peak at 1400 cd/m² which is still rare on a monitor.
We will certainly have to verify this value during a test, but these screens will in theory allow you to benefit from an ultra-high light peak in games and in video, and a potentially much more realistic rendering than the competition. We hope that the contrast and precision of the colors will follow to perfect the painting.
Good for gaming and office automation
The refresh rate will be 170 Hz for the 27-inch model and 160 Hz for the 34, high speeds and more than sufficient for many gamers, although it is true that high-end competition often reaches 240 Hz in this price range.
They also both have a 90 W USB-C power delivery port in addition to the classic HDMI, Display Port and USB-A, very practical for charging your phone or connecting a laptop for a multi-screen configuration. Small bonus, they also benefit from RGB lighting on the back to personalize your desk a little.
This very solid technical sheet obviously implies a substantial price; it will cost €1,200 for the 34R83Q, which is already available for pre-order, and around €1,100 for the 27R83Q, which should arrive within a few weeks. See you soon for a test on The Digitals.
