After the shock of the terrorist attack in Arras, teachers from Gambetta high school returned to the establishment this Monday morning to discuss after the tragedy. The colleagues of Dominique Bernard, a 57-year-old literature professor, stabbed to death by a radicalized Russian with an S file, remain very marked by the events.

Three days after the shock of the terrorist attack in Arras which cost the life of Dominique Bernard, his colleagues returned to the high school which saw the drama unfold for a moment of exchanges and discussions. A test for many, this is the case of Sophie, a history and geography teacher who had known the literature teacher for more than 20 years. She was in the courtyard when a young radicalized Russian, S, 20 years old, stabbed her to death.

“A very cultured, calm and calm teacher”

“He was someone who had a lot of humor,” she said with sobs in her voice. “I’ve been hearing his laughter in my ears for two days. He had my daughter in class, he introduced her to beautiful literature, with authors like Maupassant, Balzac and Victor Hugo.” A “calm, calm” teacher who loved his work, she adds.

Qualities that Delphine had also noticed. His death is a trauma for her who spoke regularly with the literature teacher in the teachers’ room: “He is a very kind person, very cultured, very calm, calm. Someone very good who had never no story.” He will be remembered by his colleagues as an uneventful teacher, invested and always concerned about the success of his students.

Students and teachers who will gather to pay tribute to him during the minute of silence requested by the Minister of National Education, Gabriel Attal.
