This Sunday ended the LCS 2022 Lock-In, the kick-off of this 10th edition of the North American professional league of League of Legends. 10 teams were present at this event to try to pocket thee cashprize of $150,000. At the end of the tournament, however, it is Team Liquid who makes sure the very first victory of this 2022 season.
This LCS 2022 Lock-In followed a traditional format, a Group Stage followed by a Knockout Stage. During the Group Stage, the 10 teams were separated in 2 groups, in which the last team at the end of this Group Stage will be eliminated. Within the Group A, we found 100 Thieves, Cloud9, FlyQuest, Golden Guardians and TSM. In the Group B, Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid, Counter Logic Gaming, Dignitas and Immortals were present.
At the end of the Group Stage, these are the Thieves claiming top spot in Group A, with a record of 3 wins for a loss, facing FlyQuest. Cloud9 finds itself in second place with the same balance sheet, followed by FlyQuest with 2 wins for 2 losses. It is TSM who is eliminated from the group, finishing in 5th place, with a record of one victory for 3 defeats, just ahead of the Golden Guardians.
Within Group B, the Evil Geniuses who finish first in their group carefree, winning each of their 4 matches. They are tracked by Team Liquid, for a 3-1 record, then Counter Logic Gaming in 2-2, followed by Dignitas in 4th with a score of 1-3. So these are the Immortals who are eliminated at the end of this Group Stage for group B, failing to win any of their matches.
Next comes the Knockout Stage, which was quickly dominated by Team Liquid and the Evil Geniuses. In the quarter-finals, they won easily 2-0, against FlyQuest for Liquid and Golden Guardians for Evil Geniuses. C9 won 2-1 against Counter Logic Gaming to join the Evil Geniuses in the semi-finals and Dignitas won hands down over 100 Thieves 2-0 and was able to reach the semi-finals against Liquid. Here, the two favorites have again dominated their meetings. Team Liquid easily won 3-1 against Dignitas to advance to the final, where the Evil Geniuses join them after a clear 3-0 against Cloud9. However, Liquid was no joke and swept away the Evil Geniuses, easily winning this final 3-0.
Team Liquid is therefore the big winner of this LCS 2022 Lock-In and therefore takes the first victory in an event of this 2022 LCS season.
