  • At the Cycling World Championships in Glasgow, Switzerland is once again world champion in the mixed team mountain bike competition.
  • Team leader Nino Schurter confidently defended his lead over second-placed France on the last lap, third place went to Denmark.
  • For Switzerland it is already the 8th World Championship title in the team mixed relay.

In the end it came down to the expected duel between Switzerland and France, both of whom have won the World Cup 7 times so far. After the first 4 drivers in the person of Dario Lillo (Juniors), Nicolas Halter, Ronja Blöchlinger (both U23) and Linda Indergand (Elite), it was the turn of the Swiss junior Anina Hutter. She led Switzerland from 3rd to 1st place and handed over to final driver Nino Schurter with an 8-second lead over Austria and 13 over France.

The record world champion and world cup winner didn’t let anything get in the way and confidently defended the lead over the French final driver Jordan Sarrou. With a lead of 9 seconds, Schurter secured victory for Switzerland.

8. World Cup triumph for Switzerland

Behind France, Denmark secured bronze thanks to a spirited final sprint, 1 second ahead of Canada. The Danish team was already 41 seconds behind Switzerland. Austria got nothing.

Switzerland thus defended their World Cup title from the previous year. With the 8th triumph in the non-Olympic mixed relay, Switzerland is now the sole record holder, also – unsurprisingly – ahead of France.
