Tears of the Kingdom finally shows gameplay and its new powers

The event was highly anticipated. Very discreet since its announcement, 4 years ago, Tears of the Kingdom finally showed about ten minutes of his gameplay. Through a presentation by producer Eiji Aonuma posted on YouTube, we were able to find out what to expect. The development of the game is announced as finally finished, which means that it will indeed be released on May 12, 2023, without any last surprise postponement.

As expected, it will above all be a question of exploring the skies of Hyrule, accessible through a new power of the tablet. Regarding the bases of the title, they will be globally identical to those of Breath of the Wild. Durability weapons are obviously back, but with a little something new. It will now be possible to combine weapons to create more powerful ones. This DIY will also be at the heart of the adventure, through a new power: Emprise. This allows you to combine the elements available in the world to create just about anything.

New powers and endless possibilities

The vehicles that we could see in the last trailer will therefore have to be created yourself. And it will be above all a question of imagination to use the available objects and assemble them wisely. The other power revealed today is Infiltration, and it should please anyone who has ever touched the first game. This power allows you to climb to the top of a place with a ceiling. So no need to use your stamina bar and struggle painfully against the rain to reach the top of a mountain, as long as there is a cave inside.

For the rest, we will probably have to wait for the final release. Renewed powers compared to the previous game have thus been mentioned, but without further details. Tears of the Kingdom wants to keep the emphasis on exploration and finding all the surprises in the kingdom. To take again the excellent bases of BotW, and to correct the few small defects which one could note to him.

And for collectors, in addition to the collector’s edition, an OLED Switch (without the game), a pro controller and a carrying pouch in the colors of the game have also been unveiled.
