The SBB initially called for people to avoid traveling on the affected route. In addition to S-Bahn trains, the Inter-City trains IC5 and IC1 as well as the Interregio IR90 are also affected.

The railway disruption led to numerous traffic jams on the roads in the morning, particularly in the Lausanne catchment area. In the city of Geneva, the transport company discontinued line 9 and made the six SBB buses available.

The contact lines were damaged during maintenance work at Renens train station on Thursday night. Repair teams are on site and will repair the damage, according to the SBB.
