While the comedy “Ted” with Mark Wahlberg will soon leave the catalog of films available on Netflix, let’s take stock of the series adaptation project of the adventures of the trashiest teddy bear in cinema!
Known for his work as a screenwriter and voice actor for successful animated series (Family Guy, American Dad, etc.), Seth MacFarlane made his debut as a feature film director in 2012 with Ted.
In this adult comedy, Mark Wahlberg plays John Bennett, a forty-year-old whose best friend is none other than Ted, the teddy bear he grew up with. Endowed with speech and a follower of a trashy lifestyle (alcohol, smoking, etc.), the latter will see the relationship started by John with Lori (Mila Kunis) as bad.
Beneath its air of friendly comedy about the power of friendship and the rejection of the transition to adulthood, Ted won immediate success for its irreverent tone and dark humor, but also for its references to pop culture. cheesy 80s.
Himself a regular in comedies, Mark Wahlberg did not hesitate to break with his image of badass with this role of inveterate teenager, obsessed with the film Flash Gordon and maintaining a phobic fear of thunderstorms.
The American actor did not hesitate to sink into the assumed ridiculousness, in particular by being spanked by a television antenna during a sequence of anthology fight or even by massacring the song All That Time Highofficial song from the movie Octopussy!

A disappointing sequel
With more than 500 million dollars collected at the box office (a feat all the more impressive for a Rated-R film, prohibited for minors in the United States), Ted was the subject of a sequel in 2015, nevertheless less appreciated and less successful at the box office (190 million in revenue, for a budget of 68 million dollars).
Never mind, the Ted franchise will continue but not with a third film as might have been expected, but via a prequel series set in 1993. Filmed last summer, this project was conceived, written and directed by Seth MacFarlane, also back as the voice of Ted (as a reminder, his French dubbing was provided in the films by JoeyStarr).
Logically, Mark Wahlberg did not participate in the filming of the series, his character appearing at an adolescent age (a cameo is however not to be excluded). No image of the series produced by the Peacock platform has yet been unveiled, and we still do not know the launch date of the program – as well as its broadcaster in France.
To (re) see the cult comedy Ted, it won’t be long since Seth MacFarlane’s film will leave the catalog of films available on Netflix on August 15th.
