A teenager was killed on Sunday in a collision with a train in Arnèke (North) and an investigation has been opened to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy, AFP learned from the prosecution and firefighters. A “young minor girl” died in a collision with a train in Arnèke, according to the Dunkirk prosecutor’s office, which did not specify at this stage the exact location of the tragedy. An investigation was opened, entrusted to the gendarmerie.
The firefighters, called shortly after 2:00 p.m. for “a person hit by a train” at Arnèke station, found the death of a teenager “about 14 years old” and cared for her mother, in a state of shock, reported the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) of the North.
Three witnesses to the tragedy were on the spot, also shocked, but their condition did not require transport by the firefighters, continued Sdis. Around 3:30 p.m., around 130 passengers were still “detained in the train” involved, a TGV, according to the same source. “The circulation of trains is currently interrupted on the Dunkirk-Hazebrouck axis due to a personal accident which occurred in the Arnèke sector”, indicated on Twitter the account TER Hauts-de-France, estimating the time of recovery traffic at 5:30 p.m.
