Making false positive Covid-19 tests to skip class is the new trend among teens. Thanks to coca-cola or even lemon juice, they manage to blur the results. On social networks, this phenomenon has gone viral.

Teenagers are definitely ready to do anything to skip class during the Covid-19 period. For the past few weeks, a very particular trend, imported from England, has appeared on social networks under the hashtag #Fakecovidtest. Through short videos, on TikTok, young people film themselves to show how to make false positive tests. And the least we can say is that they know how to use ingenuity on this one.

To falsify the test, they use either coca-cola, beer or even a lemon or ketchup. The technique is quite simple : instead of taking a sample from the nose or mouth, they dip the swab in a drink or rub it on a lemon, and thanks to the acidity concentration of the food, the result appears positive. Child’s play !

Asked by France Interthe president of the union of medical biologists Lionel Barrand confirms half-word that “acidity may have a link”. However, he points out that this may vary by provider who manufacture the tests sold commercially. “Normally we are not supposed to do that. But it can at least serve to alert the consumer that these tests are sensitive. We have extremely strict procedures and when we go outside these procedures we can have surprises. So we have to read the manual.”

If this discovery made by teenagers seems innocent, on the other hand it means a lot for the antivax. For some people, That’s the proof that since the start of the crisis, the tests are useless and are rigged, report our colleagues.
