  • Tekken 8 is scheduled for release on January 26, 2024.
  • The past leaks are apparently outdated information.
  • Harada may have already identified the source of the leaks.

Several leaks have appeared for Tekken 8, which show, among other things, that the character Heihachi remains dead and another fighter follows in his footsteps. There is now another leak that could have given the release date of the upcoming title.

As reported by Twitter user ALumia_Italia, Tekken 8 is scheduled for release on January 26, 2024. This information appears to have come from a backend update from the Microsoft Store.

Warning from Katsuhiro Harada

Shortly before the leak appeared on the release date, Katsuhiro Harada, game director and chief producer at Bandai Namco, commented on the leaks that were already circulating.

He explains that the team is already looking for the leak and plans to hold future leakers accountable. Incidentally, the latest leak on the game’s release date is not related to this warning, as it appears to be a Microsoft error.

Source of the Heihachi leaks

According to Harada, the team has largely identified the source of the Heihachi leaks. Apparently, Bandai Namco only passed on the circulating information to organizations involved in troubleshooting and localizing the title.

Each of these organizations received different parts of the ROM. This should make it possible to identify the leaking point with the next leak.

Further Twitter posts from Harada suggest that the source of the leaks is a specific individual from a South Asian community contracting organization. He has not yet shared any more detailed information on this.

Cause of the Heihachi leaks

Harada cites the growth of the game series as the cause of these leaks. He also draws a comparison to the predecessor Tekken 7, which apparently had significantly fewer leaks.

As more organizations are now involved in the development of the game, the possibility of leaks is increasing. He also emphasizes that something like this would not happen if only his development team were responsible for the upcoming title.

An unveiling of the upcoming title could take place on October 22nd. As always, be sure to check out our gaming release list for more information on other upcoming titles.
