Telecom Italia appoints Pietro Labriola CEO

PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Italian telecommunications operator Telecom Italia announced on Friday evening that its board of directors had “unanimously” approved the appointment of Pietro Labriola as chief executive, effective immediately.

Pietro Labriola, who previously headed the group’s Brazilian subsidiary, takes the post left vacant in November by Luigi Gubitosi.

The latter had left these functions shortly after the announcement by the private equity firm KKR of a “friendly” offer of 10.8 billion euros to buy Telecom Italia and withdraw it from the listing. Vivendi, which is the largest shareholder of Telecom Italia, however, believes that this offer does not reflect the value of the telecom operator.
