Telekom deducted: The top dog has no chance against this cheap provider

Not only Telekom, Vodafone, o2 and 1&1 are fighting for their customers in the mobile communications market. Lots of providers without their own network are also getting involved and stealing customers away from the big players. Nowhere is customer loyalty as great as with a well-known cheap provider.

Aldi Talk leads in customer loyalty: Telekom can keep fewer customers

If you want to secure a cheap contract for your smartphone, you should often cancel your current contract and consider changing providers. This truism still works, because you can usually do good business with new customer discounts – or your old provider improve conditions to keep you.

Customer loyalty is important to Vodafone, Telekom and Co. They don’t need to worry too much about paying customers going to the competition. This emerges from the first quarterly report of the mobile communications report from YouGov (source: YouGov). Accordingly, the major German mobile communications providers can look forward to a solid, loyal customer base: For on average 50 percent would not consider changing providers in the next 12 months.

Telekom still has the edge among the “Big 4” in Germany. 59 percent of customers want to remain loyal to the Bonn company. 1&1 is exactly on the average of 50 percent, while Vodafone and o2, each with 45 percent, can only convince the fewest customers in the long term. But they are all overshadowed.

We explain why it can be worth canceling your mobile phone contract:

The cheap provider Aldi Talk can inspire 64 percent of its customers, for them a change to the competition is out of the question. Lidl Connect also does well as Aldi’s competitor, but comes in third place with 57 percent behind Telekom. 54 percent of those surveyed are loyal to their own low-cost provider in Telekom’s network, Congstar.

Vodafone needs to improve on customer satisfaction

Even if more customers are leaving Telekom than Aldi Talk would turn their backs on, there is no need in Bonn to be dissatisfied with the results of YouGov’s market analysis: Telekom takes first place in customer satisfaction compared to the Big 4 with 84 percent. Closely followed by o2 (83 percent) and 1&1 (82 percent). Only Vodafone has some catching up to do with 77 percent.
