Every year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), manufacturers show what the technology trends of the coming years will look like. The fair has been held since 1967 and in Las Vegas since 1998. You can see the latest products from all sorts of areas, including cell phones, laptops and televisions. These are not always finished devices; sometimes concepts or prototypes are also shown.

There’s a lot to see in the television sector again this year – in the truest sense of the word. Anyone who thinks that TV sets are slowly becoming obsolete is wrong. Samsung, LG, Panasonic and TCL announce exciting innovations and give an idea of what the home cinema of tomorrow could look like.

The huge 115-inch television from TCL is exciting and, above all, huge – you no longer need a projector. Samsung, on the other hand, is showing, among other things, a transparent smart TV with micro LEDs that puts its previously shown OLED competitors in the bag. Of course, there are not only extreme ones, the regular and, above all, affordable model series also receive updates. Below we will show you the current TV highlights that can be seen at CES.

  1. Samsung is becoming transparent and relying on AI

  2. TCL is showing a huge 115-inch model with Quantum Dot technology

  3. Panasonic relies on OLED and Fire TV

  4. LG: Brighter OLEDs and a wireless, transparent smart TV

Samsung is becoming transparent and relying on AI

Samsung is showing the prototype of a transparent Micro LED TV at CES. Transparent televisions have been available from several manufacturers in recent years, but Samsung’s concept is convincing in two respects. On the one hand, the device is significantly more transparent than competing models with an OLED panel, and the display is also significantly brighter. According to the manufacturer, the finished product will go on sale, but not this year.

Samsung's OLED series will be available in more sizes and will also be significantly brighter.

Samsung’s new OLED series will come onto the market in 2024. Compared to their predecessors, the models come in more sizes between 48 and 83 inches, and the panels are now 20 percent brighter than before. In addition, the televisions receive the new “OLED Glare Free” technology. It is intended to reduce reflections and enable use even in bright daylight. The new models will also be interesting for sports and gaming fans. The image refresh rates are up to 144 Hertz.

The QLED TVs also get new features. Both the 4K and 8K models now rely on artificial intelligence. Thanks to the new processor, it has a neural processing unit that is twice as fast as its predecessor. This means that content on the screen should be displayed much more precisely and sharply. Among other things, the technology will also be used to upscale Full HD or 4K content and, for example, ensure that a flying soccer ball is permanently displayed in sharp focus.
