Temtem is finally available in its final version (1.0) since this Tuesday, September 6, 2022. The opportunity for many old players to come back to the game but also for new players to discover this huge MMO of collecting monsters. Paid and available on most platforms (consoles and PC), some Internet users unfortunately did not appreciate that a Battle Pass, asking for additional money, was implemented in the game.
The battle rages on Steam… because of the Battle Pass
When you open your menu on Temtem, you will realize that a Shop as well as a Battle Pass are available, both of which then offer to spend real money to buy items. Novasthe game’s Premium currency. Temtem being a paying MMO (around 40€ minimum), this angered some old and new players when version 1.0 was released.
However, it must be understood that this Battle Pass only offers cosmetic items to customize your avatar and not important resources for the adventure. Therefore, Temtem is in no way a Pay 2 Win since if a player decides to pay some Nova to obtain the Premium BP, he will simply receive a few cosmetic items.
The Battle Pass costs 750 Novas, or around €6.
Two teams of players are currently competing in Steam comments and reviews: Internet users wanting to carry out a review bombing (and therefore rate the game poorly) then reproaching Cream Games for having integrated a Battle Pass into Temtem, and the Tamers having understood that this purely cosmetic BP was in no way cosmetic and wishing to defend the game at all costs. That’s why the overall rating of reviews on Steam isn’t that bad: fans of the game are resisting the invader.
Crema Games is dealing with the situation
On the official Discord of Temtem, Crema Games wanted to clarify the situation and launched a kind of call for help to players who understood that the Battle Pass was only cosmetic in order to cancel the review bombing currently in progress. The developers then specify that they are aware that the BP does not please everyone, but that it is nevertheless a transparent decision which was announced in 2020 already when they revealed the Road Map of the game.
Their intention has always been to avoid p2w, and to make any premium item as optional as possible. Everything paid for on Temtem is cosmetic only. They’ve even made it so that buying one battle pass gives you enough currency to buy the next one for free, and it’s an endless loop of free battle passes.
